ABOUT

Cozette R. Garrett is an ordained Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister who is known as a lively and informative preacher, workshop leader and speaker. She teaches and trains in a variety of settings while often focusing on the health and wholeness of God’s people.
Dr. Garrett received an earned Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary (UTS) at Dayton, Ohio, a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary (MTS) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Memphis.
She is the retired senior pastor of Community of Faith Christian Church (DOC) and she also served as both a trained hospital and hospice chaplain. She served as the Program Director of the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence Program—a Memphis Theological Seminary Lilly Foundation grant—which supported over 100 diverse clergy as they did faithful Christian ministry. Over the past twenty years, her work in church ministry has been broad as she served in both staff and volunteer positions at several churches including her present home church which is Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church (DOC).
Her first published book is entitled "Diamond Discoveries of a Woman Preacher: A Word for Female Clergy and Those Wanting to Understand Them". She is a past Regional Chaplain of her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. She formerly served as a program manager of Faith Community Ministries, an arm of Memphis’ Church Health which helped congregations to start and maintain their heath ministries.
Dr. “Coz” lives with her husband, Solomon M. Garrett. They are the parents of two young adult daughters, Dana Garrett and Marloe Garrett Mackie. Marloe and Charlie W. Mackie are the parents of her grandchildren—Charlie, Clarke and Cooper Mackie
